Spurgeons work with young people and families all over the UK. The projects based at The Workspace are the Young Carers and Contact.
The young Carers Project supports young people aged between 7 - 18 years that care for someone in their family unit. This could be due to a disability, illness, mental health issues or drug/alcohol misuse.
We provide support to the young carers in the form of evening activity groups, holiday day trips, parties, one to one support and general information, guidance and signposting.
Due to the caring role many young people can feel very isolated, worried and anxious. We can help them to realise that they are not alone by providing a supportive network.
The Contact service provides facilities for children to spend time with their parents or family members with whom they no longer live. We provide friendly staff and welcoming facilities to help the children adjust to the changes in their lives.
Spurgeons journeys with vulnerable children and young people to create a lasting impact, spurring them on within their families and communities, by building self-esteem, resilience and hope.
